Complete Works Theatre Company performed Oedipus the King, a text studied by Year 12 English students in 2026.

The opportunity to watch Sophocles' Greek Tragedy Oedipus the King, live for our Year 12 English studies helped enormously to improve our knowledge of the play’s complex ideas, characters and plot.

The actors were very engaging, and seeing it performed as it was meant to be experienced thousands of years ago triggered an ‘ah ha!’ moment for many, including myself!

Discussion of the play's themes and characters both before and after the play was particularly useful. As we could ask questions, discuss new ideas and gain valuable insight from the actors themselves! It was a great experience and will make it much easier to write our SACs and, if we choose to, our final year exam.
