SCHOOL SPORT VICTORIA - SANDHURST DIVISION

Athletics

On Tuesday 8 September, the CMCB Athletics Team competed at the Sandhurst Division Athletics Carnival at the La Birpa Athletics Track in Bendigo. The team consisted of 57 students who competed across a range of track and field events. Conditions were ideal throughout the day, with clear skies and warm sunshine providing the perfect setting for athletics competition.

Several students produced excellent performances, highlighted by two record-breaking displays from Year 7 student Milanke Haasbroek. Milanke broke Sandhurst Division records in both the 1500m and 3000m events. Her 3000m performance was particularly impressive, as it is an Open event against students from Years 7 to 12.

Henry Kleinert also set a new division record in the 14 Year Male High Jump, clearing an outstanding height of 1.70 metres.

Across the day, CMCB athletes achieved a number of first-place finishes, with all results listed below. Consistent performances across both track and field events saw the team finish second overall in the 13-16 Years division and third overall in the 17-20 Years division.

We would like to thank Mr Craig Green for officiating the Shot Put event and Mrs Amy Clark for her work at the finish line throughout the day. We also acknowledge Mr Leigh Millard and Mrs Molly Leahy for their support and assistance in supervising the team.

The carnival was a successful beginning to the Interschool Athletics Program, with 29 students qualifying for the Loddon Mallee Regional Finals. We look forward to seeing these athletes compete on 17 September.
