SENIOR FOOTBALL
The CMCB 2nd XVIII Football team opened their 2026 Senior Football campaign in perfect weather conditions against Bendigo Senior Secondary College (BSSC). With both sides fielding strong numbers, the match provided an ideal opportunity for the coaching staff to assess their squads ahead of the Premier League competition in Term 2. Early light dew on the ground led to some handling errors, but CMCB quickly settled and began to assert control across the field.
CMCB were first to score and dominated general play, with all forwards getting involved and capitalising on their chances to take a 4 0 goal lead at quarter time. The boys maintained their momentum throughout the match, moving the ball efficiently and using clever ball movement to create space. A further three unanswered goals in the second quarter saw CMCB head into the main break with a commanding 48–4 advantage.
The third quarter saw CMCB lift to another level, particularly through the midfield, producing a 6 goal term as BSSC struggled to contain their run and team-focused style. The dominance continued until the final siren with another five goals added, while the backline was outstanding in denying BSSC a major score for the entire match. It was an impressive all-round performance, with several players staking a strong claim for Premier League selection next term.
Final Score:
CMCB 18.13 (121) def. BSSC 0.5 (5)
Goal Kickers: Miller Armstrong 4, Aydan Hand 2, Maxwell Nicholas 2, Jacobi Kramer 2, Bailey Holland 2, Tom Smith, Henry O’Callaghan, Griffin O’Shea, Jimmy Mathews, Nicholas Long, Zane MacDonald
