Intermediate Girls

The Intermediate Girls soccer team had a fantastic day of competition, showing great teamwork, resilience and sportsmanship across all four games. From the first whistle, the girls set a positive tone, supporting one another and playing with confidence and intent.

CMCB started strongly in Game 1, defeating Crusoe College 4 - 0. Chloe Hassett led strongly in defence, while Zara Mould found the back of the net with four goals. Sophie Douglass provided excellent attacking options and movement up the field.

Game 2 against Victory Christian College was a hard-fought draw. Emily Doherty showed composure with strong ball skills under pressure, Kelly Ginnivan was reliable in defence, and Lyra Damchef used her body well to control play.

In Game 3, CMCB secured a 2 - 0 win over Weeroona College. Bronte Ellerton was a standout, covering the ground and impacting in both attack and defence, while Scarlett Wagstaff worked tirelessly through the midfield. Ruby Goggin also impressed up forward with her work rate. Zara Mould and Bronte Ellerton scored a goal each to lead CMCB to victory.

Game 4 was a tight contest, with CMCB edging out Bendigo South East College 1- 0. Ruby Ritchie was solid in defence, reading the play well, while Zalie Seamer showed determination and team-first play. Sophie Healy was strong on the wing and in defence, and Kasia Angove applied great defensive pressure throughout. Scarlett Wagstaff scored the game’s only goal in the first half to secure the win.

Overall, the Intermediate Girls finished the day undefeated and now progress to the Loddon Mallee Regionals Finals Day, which is an excellent achievement.

A big thank you to Rose McSweeney for assisting in managing the team and supporting the girls throughout the day. We look forward to the next day of competition later in May.

Intermediate Boys

The Intermediate Boys team had an outstanding run in this term’s school competition, going undefeated throughout the regular rounds before losing the Grand Final in a Penalty shootout 5-6.

Game 1 saw the boys record a strong 2–0 win over Creek Street Christian College, with goals to Jimi Read and Jacob Kendall. The team then backed this up in Game 2 with another 2–0 victory against Eaglehawk Secondary College, where Coen Kendal and Jayden Kaungwa found the back of the net.

In Game 3, the boys continued their dominant form, defeating Victory Christian College 3–0 thanks to goals from Zu Ri, Seth Ramm, and Nay Lae Oo Ku. Across these matches, the team displayed impressive defensive structure, not conceding a single goal during the round games thanks to Ben McAuliffe’s amazing work in goals.

The Grand Final was a close and hard-fought contest, finishing as a 1-all draw at full time, with Jacob Kendal scoring the equaliser late in the match. Despite a determined effort, the team was narrowly defeated in a penalty shootout.

Thank you to Jack Dalton and Henry Pilippi for refereeing matches on the day: without them giving up their time, the competition could not proceed.
