Students in Unit 1 Product Design Technologies – Wood and Textiles have recently completed an exciting mini design task.

Their brief was to create a functional and innovative range of sunglasses designed either for a specific event or a targeted end‑user group. Using our Double Diamond Design Process, students:

• investigated and analysed existing products,
• explored how function and aesthetics influence design,
• developed, refined and trialled ideas, and
• produced a final creative sunglasses prototype as well as working drawings.

These impressive pieces have been on display in the St Mary’s Arts Building. Students enjoyed taking a moment to visit the display and celebrate the creativity of their peers.

Congratulations to Mr Tyzzer, Mr Everton and Mr Hughes for their guidance and support throughout the project.

Classes will now shift their focus to new projects within their specialisations of Wood and Textiles, where they will continue applying and extending their design skills. We look forward to sharing more of their work as it develops throughout this semester.
