We are delighted to announce Harriet Schuster as the winner of our World Poetry Day poetry competition. This year’s theme was Poetry as a Bridge for Peace and Inclusion. Honourable Mentions also went to William Tinney, Matisse Goldsworthy and Angus Villela. Below is Harriet’s Poem.
Many seem to question the meaning of harmony.
Some think that it means the beautiful sound of music in artistry.
Others have their mind wrapped around the prospect of a parallel story.
Although, for such a peculiar way of thinking, whoever uses it shall have glory.
However, the way I am thinking has neither paper, nor a piano.
It is the wonderful sound of parallel thinking and talking that is as fine as oregano.
Just like oregano, it is hard to find it in such a large bed of a garden,
Like our world population that doesn’t know how to function.
It is hard, you know,
To find kind friends with which to share the row.
But we can find harmony in the darkest of times,
Even if it is just one person, with which it's fun to eat limes.
We cannot find harmony if we are all throwing bombs and all that.
Instead, cuddle up with a friend and a cat.
