SCHOOL SPORT VICTORIA - SANDHURST DIVISION
The Year 9/10 football team had a strong showing at the Sandhurst Division Intermediate Boys Football Day, finishing the day undefeated and earning a place in the Loddon Mallee Region Finals to be played in Swan Hill on Wednesday 29 July.
Game 1 – CMCB vs Marist
Catherine McAuley College Bendigo (CMCB) faced a challenging start against Marist College Bendigo, who came out firing and kicked the first two goals of the match. However, the CMCB team responded well through goals from Paddy McNamara and Charlie Macumber, steadying the contest heading into halftime.
The second half saw CMCB take control, with strong ball movement and forward pressure leading to goals from Jimi Read and another from McNamara. The boys finished strongly to secure a solid 41–29 victory.

Game 2 – CMCB vs Bendigo South East College
The second match was played on the larger oval, which perfectly suited CMCB’s running and handball style of play. The team started quickly, kicking the first three goals through Oisín Dunne, Zander Walker and Knox Westley.
CMCB maintained control for the remainder of the game, with Knox Westley in outstanding form, adding another two goals in the second half. The team’s work rate and ball movement were a highlight, resulting in a convincing 40–11 win.

Game 3 – CMCB vs Victory College
Back on the smaller oval, CMCB were slow to start against Victory College and held only a narrow 1-goal lead at halftime.
The second half saw a complete turnaround, with CMCB dominating play and kicking six unanswered goals to put the result beyond doubt. Charlie Macumber led the charge with three goals, while Jimi Read, Miller Polglase, Knox Westley, and Oisín Dunne each contributed a goal.
CMCB ran out comfortable winners, finishing the day in dominant fashion.
It was an impressive performance across all three games, with contributions from a wide range of players and strong team cohesion throughout the day.
The boys are looking forward to their next challenge in Swan Hill, where they will look to continue their excellent form.
