At lunchtime on Wednesday 9 September, a small but enthusiastic group of St Mary’s students gathered in the Marian Theatre to hear about Career pathways in the Australian Defence Force from CPL Tahni Blenkhorn and LS Eloise Rogalski.
Tahni and Eloise provided very interesting information about the many ways to serve in the ADF and also explained what an ADF Gap Year entails. The students asked lots of questions and enjoyed the presentation.

On Friday 11 September, twelve very fortunate CMCB students spent the day at the Puckapunyal Army Career Expo, gaining firsthand insight into the wide range of full-time and part-time careers available in the Australian Army and Defence.
The students explored the benefits of serving in one of the world’s leading military forces, spoke one-on-one with Australian Defence Force members about their experiences, and engaged with the ADF Recruitment team to learn about current job opportunities, salary, Defence University Sponsorship, the Defence Force Academy, GAP Year pathways, and STEM opportunities.
Throughout the day, students viewed impressive equipment displays—including Main Battle Tanks, Light Armoured Vehicles, M777 Guns, Air Defence Systems, Unmanned Aerial Systems, Heavy Vehicles, Protected Mobility Vehicles like the Bushmaster and Hawkei, infantry capabilities, and modern communications systems. They even participated in hands-on activities such as climbing into and onto Army vehicles, making it an exciting and highly informative experience.
