LMR Track & Field Championships

CMCB students delivered strong performances at the event.

SCHOOL SPORT VICTORIA - LODDON MALLEE DIVISION
Track & Field Regional Championships

On Thursday 17 September, twenty-eight students from Catherine McAuley College Bendigo proudly represented the school at the School Sport Victoria Loddon Mallee Regional Track and Field Championships in Bendigo. Competing against some of the strongest athletes from across the region, our students embraced the challenge and showcased their talents across a wide range of track and field events.

The day featured some strong performances across both track and field events, with students supporting one another and representing the College well throughout the championships. Their efforts were reflected in the results, with the team bringing home twenty-six medals.

A number of athletes delivered exceptional performances, with nine students earning qualification to the School Sport Victoria State Track and Field Championships. These students will now have the opportunity to compete against the best school-aged athletes in Victoria at Lakeside Stadium, Melbourne, on Friday 16 October. We congratulate all qualifiers on this significant achievement and wish them every success at the upcoming State Finals.

A special mention goes to Milanke Haasbroek, who produced a remarkable performance in the 12-13 Years Girls 1500m event. Milanke not only claimed first place but also broke the long-standing Loddon Mallee Regional record, running an impressive time of 4:57.33. The previous record of 5:48.06 had stood since 2017, making this achievement even more significant. Congratulations to Milanke on an outstanding performance and a well-deserved place in the record books.

Thank you to Mrs Clark and Mrs Leahy for their assistance and support of the students throughout the day. Their encouragement and organisation helped ensure a positive and successful experience for all involved.
