Year 9 Students begin their 2027 subject selection journey

On Friday 19 June, all Year 9 students attended a Subject Selection Assembly, the first step in their 2027 subject selection journey. During the assembly, the students were fortunate to hear from two of our St Mary’s staff, Mr Colin Hogan and Mrs Hannah Johnston, who discussed the various subjects and pathways available to our students when they are in Year 10.

Some of the key points included:

• Students will all study three Core subjects and select eight Electives (plus two reserve electives) for 2027
• Students can apply to accelerate in specific subjects, e.g. complete a VCE subject in 2027. Approval will be subject to their 2026 attendance, results, submission of work and work ethic.

Further information was presented to students, parents and carers at the 2027 Subject Selection Evening held at St Mary’s on Tuesday 23 June. In addition, students have now been given a subject selection form to complete. Students, parents and carers should read the information posted on the CMCB Subject Selection site located on SIMON before completing this form.

Next term, on Wednesday 22 July, all Year 9 students will attend a Pathways and Transition Day at St. Mary’s Campus, where they will start to finalise their subject choices.
