Rock of Ages Performances Wow Audiences

Fabulous voices, big hair and colourful costumes, lighting and sets wow production audiences.

The annual CMCB production was held last week at the stunning Ulumbarra Theatre.

Nearly 120 students were involved, both onstage acting and behind the scenes, bringing together the fun show that was ‘Rock of Ages’. We performed three times over two days, including a matinee performance for our Catholic primary schools’ Grade 5 and 6 students and invited guests.

The students began the whole process with auditions last year in Term 4 and committed themselves throughout the rehearsals in Terms 1 and 2 this year, culminating in a fantastic 2-hour long show. The incredible 80s songs featured throughout were audience favourites, often engaging people in singing along to the well-known choruses from the time.

The big hair and colourful costumes, lighting and sets all contributed to a high-energy presentation from our students. There was a great sense of achievement and lots of emotion from our students at the end of each show, with many firm friendships formed and a real appreciation for the talent on show.

Sincere thanks must go to all staff, families and students who came along to the performances, and also for their support and contributions to such a wonderful event. Our students had an incredible time and also learned so much about the theatre and production/performance process. We are looking forward to what next year will bring.
