Thank you to Charli, Mia, Miranda and Abbey from Bendigo Senior Secondary College, who assisted on the day with refereeing duties. Their support and willingness to help throughout the competition were greatly appreciated.
Intermediate Girls
The girls began their day with a challenging match against Crusoe College. They secured a strong 2–0 victory, winning the first set 20–12 and the second 20–14. Sophia Clare set the tone early with consistent serving and defensive support, while Evie Gretgrix worked solidly at the net. Rose Ku provided reliable support around the court.
In their second match against East Loddon P-12 College, the girls continued their momentum with another 2–0 win, taking the sets 20–15 and 20–13. Mia Cox and Sophie McDermott used their height effectively at the net to block and spike, while Leana Peace played an important role in setting up the play.
The final pool match saw the girls face Weeroona College Bendigo, a strong opponent who took the match in two sets.
After finishing second in their pool, the girls progressed to the semi-final, where they faced Eaglehawk Secondary College. This was a highly competitive match featuring long rallies and strong teamwork. Arianna Gibson delivered excellent serving and setting, Sienna Raco contributed with blocking and hitting at the net, and Madeleine McCarthy demonstrated consistent passing and all-court play. With the match tied on sets, the girls won on points by a single point, earning their place in the grand final.
In the grand final, the girls once again faced Weeroona College. Despite a determined effort and strong performance, they were unsuccessful, going down 14–20 and 17–20.
The team represented Catherine McAuley College Bendigo with excellent sportsmanship, positive attitudes, and commendable conduct throughout the day.
