SCHOOL SPORT VICTORIA - SANDHURST DIVISION

Junior & Intermediate Tennis

On Thursday 26 March, our Junior and Intermediate Tennis Teams participated in the Sandhurst Division Tennis competition, held at the Bendigo Regional Tennis Centre in Nolan Street.

All teams displayed fantastic skill and sportsmanship across the day and were a credit to the College.

Junior Boys

The Junior Boys Team played just one match for the day, which was against Castlemaine Secondary College. The boys knew they would have to play well in all three allotted doubles games to secure victory. The boys were terrific as they dominated all three sets with all three pairings winning convincingly: 6-3, 6-0 and 6-1. It was a terrific result for the boys and they have now qualified for the Loddon Mallee Region Finals Day, which will be played in Mildura on Tuesday 28 April.

JUNIOR BOYS: Xavier Tyrrell, Raphael Singe, Tomás Dunne, Liam Carter, Eli Austerberry, Judd Bremner

Junior Girls

The Junior Girls Team played games against Bendigo South East College and Castlemaine Secondary College in their division. As the boys did, the girls dominated all games to win both matches in emphatic style, conceding just seven games and winning thirty-six over the course of the day to also secure their place at the regional finals. All girls were amazing and their consistency was a highlight.

JUNIOR GIRLS: Perry Westley, Vaida Penno, Ayla Nihill, Sophie Thorburn, Harriet Schuster, Eden Rogers

Intermediate Boys

The Intermediate Boys also played in a 3-team competition. Playing Crusoe College first, the boys dominated all three sets to win convincingly, only conceding one game in the three sets played. Scores were 6-1, 6-0, 6-0.

In their Round 2 match, which was also the final match of the day, the boys came up against Bendigo South East College, and this match was worth waiting for as both teams traded games throughout. Unfortunately, there was no fairytale finish for the boys as they eventually went down in an epic contest 2-1. The boys battled hard against a strong opponent with scores finishing at 3-6, 5-6 & 6-5. Once again, the boys were terrific ambassadors for the College and their sportsmanship was a highlight. Congratulations boys on a great day, and thank you for the entertainment.
